For the past few weeks, I was bombarded by work work and work. Skyrim also took much of my time since it has over 300 hours of gameplay! Anyway, a dream game I wanted to play for so long presented itself to me in an email saying “You have been to test the Old Republic.”
*Cue in girlish scream*
YESSSSS! I can’t believe it. I signed up to test it since January I believe and I had almost forgotten and given up hope of ever playing the Old Republic.
Why I’m so excited about this?
This game won’t be available in Singapore since the game producers did not want to sell it here so I grab the opportunity and play it for as long as I please. Goodbye work.
Here is a clip of a playthrough called a flashpoint. Enjoy this clip of mine and other funny clips too!
Qn: What’s the difference between Battlefield 3 and Modern warfare 3?
Ans: Absolutely NOTHING!
The question I should ask is what they have in common.
They both have 3 in it. And they both have hated fans all over the world! Most comments on both games have been usually “This game is usually for 10 year olds.” Or “This game sucks”. They both come from the first series called “Call of Duty” and it still has a growing hated community. Two comments on it:
“Call of Duty: Who Cares You're Gonna Buy it Anyway”
or
“#9 #8 #7 #6 #3 #2 and #1 shows that kids shouldn't be playing Mature games xD”
This proves that the majority of gamers who play this common first person shooter game are mainly immature kids.
Firstly, there is nothing wrong with first person shooters. But these 3 titles (Battlefield, Call of Duty and Modern Warfare) have nothing to compare against each other.
Secondly, games are created based on stories.
Example, the Halo series is about the artificial ring called halo and about shooting aliens. The story goes more in depth. Read here about my post on the story!
But the 3 games I have mentioned have shitty stories but focuses on the multiplayer where people gather online and have fun. And when I say “have fun”, I mean no fun at all. I tried my hands on one of the matches and before I knew it, I died more times that I killed (which was only 1). This games are unfriendly as first person veterans would just beat me; a novice.
Where’s the fun in that?
Anyway, enough about me raging. Here are videos to feel your mouth in awe or in intense pain from laughing too much.
Another comment on the video below (and on the overall shooter series):
“This almost made me care about the game. Almost.”
These videos below are garry’s mod videos. Anyway, the first is the old 100 ways. The one below is the newer version with new ways. Both made me laugh.
Dragon nest SAINT HAVEN is opened to South East Asia (SEA) players on the 18th of October 2011.
Some new things included in the patch are:
·of course the new area called Saint Haven,
·Level cap increased to 32
·New nest (Cerberus Nest)
·New monsters and new weapons
·And some Halloween give-aways like this pumpkin helmet
So polytechnic life is starting next week and equals less gaming and probably less blogging. If there is something new, I will always update here (like say Skyrim releasing next month).
But as always, youtube has a lot of interesting things to show you.
I just bought Rage the other day and it is still very fun. It is much like fallout and borderlands but more graphically beautiful.
It can get a bit lonely and scary when you are playing alone all the time. There are some big levels with some scary music playing so I get a bit paranoid.
In the “town”, it feels like a town, people interacting with one another and talking to you. Some go to a bar and live life like they were used to it. It’s great really.
Lately, there was this 1 trailer I will show you. It is about the PS3 and all the ps3 game protagonists appear in it! I wish they have an xbox360 one. I could imagine master chief from Halo and Marcus Fenix from Gears of War talk together in a bar.
FINALLY! A game I have been waiting for a long time has finally come out and am playing it like no tomorrow.
The pictures you see above are the ones I took when I “camped” overnight at Funan IT mall to queue up for the game. I queued for 23 hours (9pm to 8pm the next day) for the game. The first guy came up at 3pm!
Anyway, I have been waiting for this game for a long time because of the impactful story it has to offer, not because of the multiplayer. Some people buys the game and instantly goes to the multiplayer. That ain’t right because gears is a universe on its own and I loved every bit of it.
The new modes horde and beast are very fun too!
Check out the new beast mode video and some funny stuff relating to it.
Now the topic of games today is a mine craft like game called terraria (Te-rah-ree-yugh . . . something like that).
I have nothing much to say because it plays like minecraft but it is 2d and looks more fun. It comes packed with boss fights and has a wiki about it like:
·How many cobwebs do you need for a bed?
·How many iron you need for a grappling hook
·Throw a dynamite at meteorites to mine meteorite ores
Well, that is pretty much it. Oh wait.
This week I went to tgx 2011 at expo and the convention was all about gaming. I had fun there cos it’s my favourite thing.
Next week, I will be queuing up for gears of war 3 so you may hear from me soon.
I am still at it, playing Dragon Nest. The patch took place on the 1st September and they introduced 2 new things to the game: A new dungeon; Minotaur Nest and PVP (player vs player) mode.
PVP is sometimes the norm for MMO games where players test their skills against others. I tried a few rounds and my hands and fingers felt the pain and agony of pressing so many buttons over and over again. It felt fun sometimes but my fingers really felt sore after that.
I am a bit unhappy that they did not increase the level cap yet. I am still stuck at the same level with the same equipment. Although the announcement said they will increase it soon, I simply can’t wait.
The last is the new dungeon. Minotaur nest as the name suggests, is full of minotaur monsters and the boss is definitely a minotaur. It is simply so hard to play this new dungeon. I died once on this dungeon but won it 2 times later.
If you want to know how to get in the dungeon, talk to adventurer guild master Deckard and he will give you a Red Army Commander Seal which you will need to get in.
After this much talking, allow me to show the vids!
Hello once again gamers. The holidays are drawing near and so are a whole lot of announcements and game releases!
Let me start by saying that Gears of War 3 is having a launch event at Funan; it digital mall. It starts at 8pm on 19th September. But I shall be there on the 18th to queue up already! Because the first 50 get something special and I want to be part of that 50.
Next, here are some pics of another virtual me:
These are screenshots of me playing this new MMO (massive multiplayer online) game called Dragon Nest. It’s really quite fun and better than other MMOs because they really help you a lot in directions and quests objectives.
I am a swordmaster; specialized class of warrior and am playing in the server: Greenwood. I am level 17 currently and if you would, you can add me and play in the same server. It has to be same server or else.
Next, I am bombarded with 4 videos that I would really like to watch.
The first is a cool video called Dota 2. DOTA (defence of the ancients) is a modification from a game called: Warcraft 3. People modded the game to play it at a certain style. DOTA became so popular that it is featured in many competitions so it makes it a very competitive game.
This is a beta gameplay of Resistance 3. The person playing this spots an unusual glitch and shows it. This Glitch makes him invisible to everyone around him. At the end, you can see he did not die at all and had the most kills. I guess that is why they call it a beta.
The last video is a super funny series called Two Best Friends Play. They play games together and make fun of everything in it. They talk about the realities of the game and make fun of it. It truly is very funny!
WooHoo! My animation is finally done. I can RELAX.
I chose scene 3 for my final work.
Scenario 3
However, in this case, the conveyor doesn’t wait for the robot to finish stacking a box before moving the queue – it keeps moving the boxes forward, slowly at first, but getting faster and faster, as if there’s been a malfunction.
Script:
Homer is sick and tired of stacking up boxes everyday so he feels very angry and desperate for change. He feels lazy and has the “I don’t care attitude” but he still has to stack boxes so his work continues.
When he fails to stack boxes properly, he simply does not care and leave it the way it is.
When the conveyer belt moves slowly, he is very impatient and moves a lot. When the box is near, he readies to grab it but the belt speeds up, causing the box to fly in mid air.
He is stunned but gets ready to pick up the next box. The box does the same thing and he is not happy about it.
He is very angry and shouts in anger in the air. He sees the boxes he placed down and feels the boxes are responsible in a way. He builds up his anger and swings hardly at the boxes. The boxes fly off somewhere and he starts to pant after that much anger and hatred for his job.
Reflection:
Discuss the success of your animation.
My animation of the robot arm is showing anger and how the arm portrays it’s anger. It also feels very depressed of doing the exact same thing every time so in the beginning, he feels very depressed and is lying on the floor but he knows he must continue his work so he continues his work.
He has the “I don’t care attitude” and is shown when he never pick up the box that has fallen and drops the boxes instead of putting them on the floor gently.
When he is angry, he shivers in anger and shouts in the air, moving up and down instead of staying in one position all the time.
I think my animation succeeded in bringing out some emotions from the robot arm.
Overall, I am happy for the animation and assignment.
Also discuss how you applied the principles of animation, with examples.
Squash and stretch:
Although the arm does not have any squash and stretch (it’s just a big machine, sitting there lifting boxes), the boxes I believe have mass and weight. When the arm dropped the box, the box fell at an accelerating speed and hit the floor, making a few bounces. The second box also had squash and stretch.
Anticipation:
When the arm looked at the boxes for a while, the anticipation is there to see what the arm will do next. He moves up and down a while and then, finally he swings at the boxes will full force, causing the boxes to fly.
Slow in and out:
When the arm hit the boxes, I added slow-in to see the effect of the boxes flying away at such force. Then I slowed out to resume the animation.
Timing:
I believe timing was used as the timing for specific actions was necessary. When the box fell due to the arm dropping it, the timing for the fall had to be right to make it look realistic. I think almost all other actions also required timing too.
Appeal:
I think it had appeal as some people could tell it is angry by the way it dropped the box half heartedly, shouting in the air and swinging at the boxes.
Arcs:
Although it is an in-animate object, I think it has arcs as it can move in an arc (up and down). The crane as well has arcs because it can rotate vertically.
